Lizzie Carey-Thomas has been a Curator at Tate Britain since 1999. She has curated the Turner Prize since 2002, working closely with artists such as Keith Tyson, Catherine Yass, Jake and Dinos Chapman and Jeremy Deller, in addition to managing the jury, devising the exhibition and acting as Tate media spokesperson. She has programmed Art Now since 2002, a series of exhibitions and off-site projects for emerging British artists, and curated the Art Now projects by Dryden Goodwin (2001), Mark Titchner (2003), Ian Kiaer (2003), Claire Barclay (2004) and Michael Fullerton (2005)。 She initiated the Art Now Lightbox film and video programme in 2003. She worked on Michael Landy's ambitious site-specific commission for the Duveen Galleries at Tate Britain, Semi-detached (2004), and has organised large scale loan exhibitions for Tate Britain including Lucian Freud (2002), Wolfgang Tillmans (2003) and, most recently, Howard Hodgkin (2006)。 She has devised several displays of the Tate collection, including Richard Hamilton in Focus (2005), and Tracey Emin (2005)。 She has published texts on many British artists including Gillian Carnegie, Jake & Dinos Chapman, Jeremy Deller, Richard Hamilton, Jim Lambie, Christina Mackie, Mark Titchner, Keith Tyson and Catherine Yass. In an independent capacity, she co-curated the group show Wider than the Sky in 2004, an Arts Council funded project in East London.
After graduating in 1996, Lizzie completed a six month internship at the MCA, Chicago, before joining the British Council Visual Arts Department in 1997. There she worked on a wide range of projects including Gary Hume, Venice Biennale (1999), Michael Craig-Martin, 24th Sao Paulo Bienal (1999) and Pictura Britannica: New Art from Britain, MCA Sydney and Australasian tour (1998)。
